Fasting, Foraging, Superfoods, ENERGY!
Here is my most recent picture, Jan 08. Mouth full of ginseng root haha!
Been a minute since I updated this blog, I have been keeping my blog going on my board instead because I like the layout so much better, vblogetin is much nicer to use then blogger.
So what's new with me? Let's see.. I ended up fasting for 4 days on water right through Christmas. I was having a hard time sticking to raw and felt like the fast would set my head right for the changes I needed to make. Well it sure worked! I really didn't want to end my fast but that same horrible acidy feeling came back and I couldn't deal with it. I'm thinking 3 days on water is about my comfortable limit for now. I may have to get cleaner inside before I can try for longer. I do love waterfasting more so then any other type of fasting i've tried. I consider it to be 'true' fasting.
After I broke my fast I tried a little cooked food on Christmas eve and it was a no go. Let's just say it did not hit the spot! I have been raw ever since with the exception of the dressing, hummus & dolmas from the WFM salad bar twice. The last time I had them, a few days ago, my body totally rejected them. I find now I do not desire any cooked foods anymore. And pain is no longer my motivating factor! It used to be that I would get a taste of one cooked food and it would lead to eating cooked in excess for a while until my body was so upset that I actually HAD to go back to eating raw for awhile. Now this last time, I felt the energy drop and the dull headache and that was enough to let me know that it's not working for me. It seems I have gotten used to feeling GOOD all the time and having plenty of energy. The cooked food just lost it's appeal.
I have decided to seek out the most nutritious foods possible, superfoods and super herbs. I really believe that is what has made this shift possible for me. I have so much energy and I have been existing on about 4 hours of sleep for days now and having no issues at all with it, whereas I used to need at least 8 some days up to 10! I have so much energy that I was out buying a bike at 2am and riding till 3 the other day! I have started walking daily plus playing DDR and working out at home with the mat, resistance bands & free weights. It almost seems to easy to be raw now. I am not a total purist (yet haha) and I do include things like B grade pure maple syrup, organic extracts, organic seasoned rice vinegar, 'healthier' 'natural' BBQ seasoning and things of that nature for flavoring like spices & honey. But I only use them to flavor my foods, I do not eat actual cooked foods anymore. I'm sure my diet will go through many changes over the years and I do see myself eating very simply eventualy. I have done it for periods of time and I see it is optimal. I also know I can feel even better if I can get my fat intake down to 10% or less again. But for now I do feel wonderful and am getting phenominal results! I really feel like I am raw for life now. I feel a shift has taken place, I can't explain it but I feel it strongly. I have been on this raw path for going on 6 years now and it is time for me to just stick at it.
I have also taken up foraging for foods in my neighborhood. I have seen pomegranite, mesquite, fig and several types of cactus. I made jerky from one of the cactus and it was other then the best ever. Store bought tasted better. So i plan to go off in the nearby desert and try some wild instead. I live pretty close to Sunrise Mountain so I will try that first.
I am seeking out fresh water springs in my area to collect drinking water from. Have you seen the Daniel VItalis H2O Magic on youtube yet? I will post a seperate blog for it, you can also go to my site to view them:
